Users Now Able to Delete Search Queries on Ask.com

Ask.com, a major search engine site, has launched a new feature called AskEraser, which provides users with the ability to erase their search queries and any related information. Ask.com said this new feature is to help with personal privacy over the internet.

Jim Lanzone, who is Chief Executive of Ask.com, said at the launch that, “We take significant steps to protect any data that’s stored in our servers, but for those people who want to take extra precautions, AskEraser let them take the issue completely off the table.”

A link has been applied to the homepage of Ask.com, and all search results pages, that is titled “AskEraser” and gives the user an option to turn the feature “on” or “off” during search queries. Once activated, AskEraser will delete any new search queries and any other information that is linked to the person’s cookies. This feature will be expanding to other global sites sometime in 2008, but is currently available to US and UK users.
