According to a recent news release, Ask.com has added speech-activated capabilities to their Mobile Directions service, called “Click to Speak.” This feature allows people to say their location and ending destination on their mobile device to receive directions. This feature uses technology from Dial Directions and is available immediately.
The users of this service on Ask.com mobile will see a new option that says “Click to Speak.” After clicking the person will be asked to say their current location and ending destination, and after a few seconds they will receive a text message with the corresponding directions. Once the text is received the person will have the option to switch between “walking” or “driving” routes.
This service could be a little easier to use, and would probably save you some time, if the mobile device you are using does not have a QWERTY keyboard. But if you have a QWERTY keyboard it is probably just as easy to type in the information, because sometimes using voice activated services can be a little frustrating. However, in defense, this service is free and I personally like the additional option of being able to switch between “walking” or “driving” routes.
