Google to Bring Advertising to Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

Google posted today that their AdWords Local Markets Team has partnered up with different companies, including Yellow Pages directories, media businesses and website developers in order to come up with search-based ad strategies and products.

The plan is to bring online advertising to small and medium sized businesses. Google says the reason is that, according to a survey, 74% of people find information on products by using the internet, and most businesses don’t either have a business or don’t know how incorporate search marketing.

To help kick-start this plan, Google held a Local Markets Symposium, in which Google and about 150 prospective and current partners met to discuss how they can bring online advertising to the small and medium-sized businesses. Google said that this event showed that there is plenty of opportunity for these small and medium sized businesses to effectively grow their business by using online search marketing.

Looks like it is not too long before Google kills local media including local newspaper, magazine. Let’s see how it goes.

Google is a major company, especially in the advertising and search engine market, but I very seriously doubt that they would ever kill “local media.”
