Warner Bros., who was the last studio to offer both HD DVD and Blu-ray video formats, has announced that they will only be releasing their videos in the Blu-ray format. This decision has sparked a lot of attention, and out of the seven different studios five backed Blu-ray, and only two backed the HD DVD format. However, in response to Warner Bros.’ decision to exclusively back the Blu-ray format, the companies of the HD DVD Promotional Group issued this statement:
“While Warner’s decision is a setback for HD DVD, the consumer has
benefited from HD DVD’s commitment to quality and affordability — a bar
that is critical for the mainstream success of any format. We believe
widespread adoption of a next generation format will ultimately be
determined by the consumer.”
So now that the major studios have made their respective decisions on which future video format they will provide, it is time for the consumers to determine which format they prefer. I am personally a little skeptical in making a decision right now, because the initial investment into either format can get pricey.
Both of these video formats offer users excellent high definition content by using the blue laser technology, but Blu-ray currently has a slight edge over the HD DVD format in storage capacity. Either way, it will be interesting to see which format will rise to the top.

It seems like Blu-Ray disc are slowly but surely winning the next gen war. I am sure their prices will start dropping soon. Then HD DVD will start to disappear.
