Google CEO to Speak at NASA’s 50th Anniversary Event

Space-Travel.comThe National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is holding an event on January 17, 2008 to celebrate their 50 year history, in which Google’s chairman and chief executive officer (CEO), Eric Schmidt, will be a featured speaker.

This event will be open to the media and will be broadcast live on NASA TV.  NASA was formed on October 1, 1958, under the National Aeronautics and Space Act, and has since made an impressive mark in this country’s history.

Another interesting fact to know is that while they are celebrating NASA’s 50 year history, there will be men and women working on the new space launch vehicle, Ares I, which will hopefully allow NASA to make it to the century mark.

I am really not sure what part Eric Schmidt plays in space exploration, or why he is the featured speaker at this event.  However, I guess I can’t be too surprised; this is Google we’re talking about!
