There is another news search engine, called Newspond, except this search engine gathers all of its information and articles using artificial intelligence (AI), or as they like to call it, an “electronic brain.” According to their site, “You can now stand back and observe the web from afar, watching stories as they materialize and flow through the web. It’s the ultimate hub for the latest news.”
This machine intelligent news search engine watches over and reads from hundreds of different websites, including major networks all the way down to the smallest blog. Once Newspond finds a story, it gathers all the information it can, from how fast it is spreading to the amount of discussion the story is getting. Once all the information is gathered the story is given a “Buoyancy Rating.” The higher the buoyancy rating the fast that story will float to the top.
What I like personally about Newspond is that it is different from your other news aggregation sites, like Digg, Reddit and Propeller. A group of people can’t get you to the top. It takes a good quality post with a lot of readers and discussion to make to the front page on Newspond. So, no editors and no voting; however, users are able to comment.
Give it a try and let me know what you think. So far I have enjoyed it, but I would like to hear other peoples’ opinion.

I just went and checked Newspond out, and I must say, the layout is nice. However, I don’t think it will ever compete with major media sites like Fox News or CNN. But hey, you never know.
This is a super cool site. I will definitely keep an eye on it. Great find. Honestly, I agree with Gil. Competing with the “big boys” is hard. But if they can do it, they will come out very very well off ![]()
@Mattaw
I agree, it will be hard to compete with the major media sites. I will keep my eye out to see how Newspond does.

Nice site. I think it would be a better idea if it had more catagories.

@Jason
Thanks for the comment Jason. Yeah, three categories just isn’t enough. Maybe once they get more popular they can add categories.
