Amazon Launches Currency Converter: Let’s International Customers Purchase Using Local Currency

Today Amazon announced the launch of their currency converter, which will allow customers to be able to purchase products from Amazon.com with the currency of their payment card, instead of in US dollars. This will make it a little easier for international customers to purchase items from Amazon.

“Since the launch of Amazon in 1995, we’ve served tens of millions of customers all around the world,” said Jeff Wilke, Amazon.com’s senior vice president for North American retail. “With the introduction of Amazon Currency Converter, we’re making it significantly easier for our customers - regardless of where they live — to purchase from Amazon.com.”

According to the press release, the Amazon currency counter will denote between 11 different currencies, which includes the Australian dollar, euro, Danish krone, Japanese yen, Hong Kong dollar, New Zealand dollar, Norwegian krone, South African rand, pound sterling, Swiss franc and Swedish krona.
