Netvibes, today’s leading personalized homepage, has announced the launch of Netvibes Ginger, which is an entirely new version of Netvibes with some interesting new features. With Netvibes Ginger users will be able to publish Universes, which is their own public Netvibes page, with content from social networks, widgets, blogs and major media companies.
From the press release:
Imagine sharing the entire spectrum of your digital life, from your Flickr photos to your Facebook and MySpace friends, YouTube videos, favorite blogs and news sites, widgets and more, all from a single page that your friends and family can easily enjoy and personalize,” said Tariq Krim, CEO and founder of Netvibes. “We’ve gone from the personalized private page to the personalized public Universe.
According to their site you can choose between 100,000 widgets, and includes anything from games, feeds, podcasts, news, videos and more. Also, with Netvibes Ginger you can easily add your friends either by inviting them or importing them from Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Yahoo and Gmail. So if you use Netvibes, which I currently do, then you will definitely want to try out Netvibes Ginger.
Note: The Netvibes Ginger is currently still saying they are in beta, but I am sure that will be fixed soon.

Enough said…
Max Thrane’s last blog post..Why I Hate Netvibes Ginger
@Max
Thanks for the comment. However, in your post you give no good reason as to why you dis-like Ginger except for a pop-up that asks you to upload to Ginger.
That really has nothing to do with how good Ginger is as a new Netvibes startpage. If you test Ginger out and dis-like it as a service then please share it with us.
I signed up, but wasn’t able to try it out yet. I think it sounds really cool, and I will probably use it much more than I use the original netvibes.

I have opened my Netvibes account about half year ago. When i first looked at this site, I was really impressed with it. New web idea, good design, simple function etc, and I insist on using it for few days and left it for ages. It doesn’t mean I don’t like it, but just because the new startups grows very fast, we’ll see many in seconds, such new service, new web 3.0 concept, new SNS… I don’t want to miss any one. aha…

Netvibes is probably the best web-based RSS aggregator but why not aggregating web sites rather than RSS feeds ?
Find what you’re looking for by flipping through pictures rather than by scanning a list of text entries.
Just try Web2Wave http://www.web2wave.com
Web2Wave Cover Flow-style interfaces provide an easy and fun way to sort through large volumes of information and find the piece you want at any given time.
@Paul
First off, thanks for the comment.
So far I like the new Netvibes Ginger, but when I get a chance I will go check Web2Wave out.
I took the “Try It” tour and have a couple of questions. I like to use local weather in Netvibes, can I do that with Web2Wave? Also, there doesn’t seem to be any way to tell if new content has been published on the sites of interest using Web2Wave, where as Netvibes does. Am I right on that? Thanks

@Jonathon
you can of course have the local weather in Web2Wave, just enter the right URL in the address bar of a new surflet.
This is not widget but rather the weather web site itself.
You’re right there is no social exchange for the time being in web2wave.
Cheers,
@Paul
Ok, then I just might sign-up and give it a shot. I am always up to try new things. Thanks
