Mindity is a social syndication network startup that lets users stay up-to-date with news from sites they are interested in by offering RSS feeds on their desktop, as well as online. Also, in addition to being a feed reader, Mindity acts as a social network by letting users share and rate published sources from the web.

The social networking part of Mindity can be beneficial to web site owners, especially new bloggers. The reason is because Mindity can possibly give “less known blogs a huge popularity boost. It only takes a handful of people to read and vote for a blog for Mindity’s recommendation algorithm to pick it up and offer the resource to a much wider community.”

Also, using the power of the social community at Mindity you can look for users that have similar interests to your own, get suggested feeds that you might like based on your interests, get prioritized content with Mindity’s rating system, write and read feed reviews and then share your feeds and stories with friends.

Being able to read RSS feeds online wasn’t what interested me about Mindity, but rather the ability to read them on my desktop. This could save me from having to go to different sites and/or feed readers to check on updated content. And the addition of a social community just makes the service that much more interesting. This is a service that I will definitely be trying out, and I hope to hear from people who already use the service to see what they think about it.
