Trapster- First Mobile Phone Speed Trap Sharing Social Network

Trapster Logo

Trapster has launched the first ever speed trap sharing social network for mobile phones. This new social network gives everyday drivers a way to work together and be more aware of speed limits in order to avoid getting a ticket. With Trapster users can alert each other in real-time of police speed traps with just a simple push of the button on their mobile phone.

Law enforcement have more advanced techniques nowadays to trap and give tickets to drivers exceeding the speed limit, which causes the driver’s insurance premium to go up on top of having to pay the large ticket fine. Now, with the help of Trapster, drivers can electronically mark the location of law enforcement traps or traffic light cameras and it will alert other users when they get close to those areas. Pretty cool I think.

“Who hasn’t unintentionally increased driving speed in order to avoid a dangerous driver only to inadvertently pass a concealed police car?” said Pete Tenereillo, Founder, & President. “Trapster levels the playing field for drivers by helping them share information with each other about police activity.”

What do you guys think, is Trapster helping level the playing field between drivers and law enforcement, or is it keeping dangerous drivers from being caught by law enforcement and learning a lesson? Either way it is a service that I think could help those of us who normally obey the speed limit signs, but do occasionally creep above it.

I personally think it is a great idea! Of course I am sure the police will not agree with me.

No speeders for me even though I never received one in my 30 years of driving!

I have had one speeding ticket, and hopefully it will be the last :)
