Publicity Wheel is a new startup that offers a unique way for people to boost their site’s traffic and exposure, all at no cost. Using Publicity Wheel is very simple and it gives any site the ability to get some exposure, not just the popular ones.
The concept of Publicity Wheel is simple- every time they spin a new website is selected to be featured on the banner image or text link that users place on their site. There is one featured website selected for each category, and will only be displayed on the users’ sites who selected the same category.
Each time someone clicks on the image you gain a number of publicity points. Each publicity point you earn gets you one chance at winning when they spin the wheel. So, the more points the have the better you chances of winning; however, having the most points does not guarantee your chances of winning.
Publicity Wheel seems like a pretty fun way for new web sites to try and get some extra traffic and exposure. However, the amount of traffic you receive will be determined by where the users’ place the banner ad on their site as well as how many sites are involved overall. The main question I have is how much “boost” in traffic would a featured site be expected to get right now?

Nice, that is pretty cool. I will check them out.
Hmmm… interesting idea but might want to wait for them to gather some momentum before hopping on board. Seems like they are the only ‘winner’ so far.
Hi all,
I’m the owner of The Publicity Wheel and it is certainly true that a boost in traffic at this stage would be quite low as we are still very young. However, given this fact, joining up now would give you a greater chance at winning each round. In effect, you’ll have a greater chance of getting a smaller boost in traffic now - it’s all proportional.
Thanks for the comments, i’d be happy to answer any other questions or feedback you may have.

@Mark
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. It would be nice if you had a rought estimate as to what traffic boost a winner right now might see. If you don’t know that is fine, I just think that would help peoples’ decision on whether to join or not.
@Jonathon
To be honest the site was only launched a few days ago and so far we have around 30 users (and growing quickly).
The answer depends on which category your website falls in. Categories such as “Business” and “Internet” are more popular, so you may have 7 or 8 sites promoting yours if you win in that case.
I expect to “spin” the wheel next week to generate the first group of winners, but by then there may be many more users and we could be looking at completely different traffic figures.
Nice , i heard about it yesterday .
already joined this morning
@mark . the service really looks promising

@Mark
Oh, ok. I knew that it was new but I didn’t know it was only a few days old. Let me know how everything goes, b/c I would love to do an update after the site gets up and going.
Jon,
You find some of the best techie stuff around. I know you have your resources, but this is one I am going to test!
It’s kinda similar to Spottt , Blog2up (or what ever it’s called) though?
I guess we’ll just have to try if this brings a good traffic in

@Michael
Yeah you’re right, but it is worth a shot.
@Michael
It seems similar to Spottt (I can’t find Blog2up, could someone help out with a link?), but there are key differences. Spottt is a banner exchange system, and uses a 2:1 ratio (you show 2 ads on your site, 1 of your ads is shown elsewhere).
The Publicity Wheel uses a different concept, with no ratios, where everyone within a particular category promotes one website at a time. If you win the round, you should expect to achieve a huge boost in traffic and exposure at that time. It’s less about numbers and ratios and more about fun (if that can be achieved through web promotion) ![]()
@Mark
Here is the the service he is talking about. It is called BlogUpp:
@Jonathon
Thanks for the link. BlogUpp is quite interesting and seems to approach things from a different angle. It appears to have a focus on blogs (through RSS) and also uses a ratio, but I can certainly see that being quite useful for bloggers.
For anyone interested, check out the FAQ page on the Publicity Wheel site, it might help to differentiate it to banner exchange programs.
@Mark
I really appreciate you continuing to stop by to answer and respond to the comments by my readers.
I think this one is similar to adgridwork, if you’ve ever heard of it.

It may not be worth looking into until they have a large user base.

@Eric
No, I have never heard of adgridwork. I will go check them out. Thanks.
@Eric
Thanks for the link, i checked out adgridwork and it seems to be another banner/link exchange. I don’t believe the Publicity Wheel concept through points and “winners” has been seen anywhere else.
@Mark
Yeah, I agree. So far I haven’t seen anything that is the same as Publicity Wheel.
I don’t know about this site before. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the link.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting Yoko!
Having seen quite a few of these marketing schemes in the last year, I’m somewhat skeptical on how well they actually work out - I’ve recently dropped Entrecard permanently due to it’s poor performance on my site.
One to keep an eye on for the future though.
